Ok, so I live in Houston and I tried posting some cars that I need to sell on craiglist houston and no serious buyers came up to me that really wanted to buy my car. Now I’m going to try auto trader but I wanna know how fast I can sell a car if I post a listing on there.
About how fast can I a private Auto Trader seller can sell a car?

There are no guarantees how fast they will sell. Remember, we are in a piss poor economy.

The other poster is right. There are a lot more people trying to “dump” their unneeded cars, trucks, trailers, pwc’s etc. because of the economy. It is a buyers market and selling can take time unless you have something special. The secret is to price it where you will be happy and the buyer will feel as though he got a great deal. Good luck

Advertising in Auto Trader usually means you have a set price you want and you’re willing to wait for it. Basically, how long it takes you to sell your car depends on how much you are willing to drop the price. In other words, if you want to sell it quickly, you have to be willing to drop the price way under what other similar cars are selling for. If so, Craigslist is the way to go. If you have a set price that you want to get, then you will have to wait for the right buyer and Auto Trader is the way to go.
As for how long it will take, right now is the absolute worst time to get your high asking price. In good circumstances, it could take three to six months. In current economy, you may have to wait until the economy picks up.
If you want to sell fast, look for similar cars on Craiglist to get an idea of what people are asking. Then post yours for at least 25% less than the asking price. I just sold a car this way. The going price on Craigslist was $7000, with most listings having been out there for two weeks to a month. So I posted mine for $5000 and sold it for $4800 in one day.

Buy the autotrader ad that doesn’t expire because i have a car for sale there and I haven’t received one call and my car is a lot more cheaper than the dealers have it for.
Its worth the 70 bucks rather than having it expire after 2 months or so
