Studio special effects departments build several duplicate models for scenes and backups in the event of accidental damage These may have been backups designed for scenes in early films (cars going over mountains, train wreck, etc.). Car enthusiasts may be able to tell you what movies certain cars were in. Read the film credits and you might come up with a name of the company or model maker. If not, time to sit down on the sofa with some popcorn, soda, and an old time movie!
