Property release for car shows? Or indiv’l cars?

05 Jun

Do I need a property release signed for hot rods, classic, muscle cars, and other unique antique, vintage vehicles photographed at various car shows this summer and in the past? Do I need to contact certain car clubs to which those cars might belong to and see what they think of this? Not everyone who has displayed their cars at these shows belong to those clubs or any clubs at all, so it’s a little difficult to find out who would agree to have their car’s photos shown on the web, or images or merchandise sold with images of some cars sold. Do photos of a car show itself where cars lined up for display are photographed to show various angles of the space where cars are located and people walking by looking at them is that also requiring some model/property release? Maybe not. How about up close photos of cars not showing the entire license plate, or no license plate number at all, or just partial shots, or up close detail shots focusing only on the hood ornament, or the grill and one headlight, or from the rear from a low angle only showing driver’s side front wheel and front, but where certain shots do not fully expose a car and thus it is unclear or very hard, if not impossible to identify a certain car by one or more characteristics. What do you think?
