So I am going to okinawa japan to visit my fieonce in June. Because he is in the military he can not rent a car while I am out there. So I started looking into getting a international drivers license. I found some web sites that offer them but, since I can’t seem to find one that is goverment sponcered I am worried about being scammed. Does anyone know a reputiable sourse?

All you need to do is go to your local AAA. They can set you up with an international driver’s permit cheaply – it’s just a translation of your existing license into several languages so the authorities in other countries can read the information on your existing license. You still need your home license to actually drive.
