How would a CAR LOAN affect my HOME LOAN later?

02 Jul

My wife and I have no loans on cars and no apartment (owned) yet. We want to buy a new car and finance it. How would that affect our home loans (in, say, 6 months)? Do the banks prefer you to have as little debt as possible, or would the car loan be good for our credit because we will be paying the financing on a regular basis for the next half year? We both have great credit ratings.

Appreciate any advice.

Has anyone ever just bought a new car and then while driving it home crashed it or slightly hit another car?

03 Jun

Has anybody just scratched or ruined their new car while driving it home from the car dealership or the next day crashed it or scratched their brand new car? Even used cars, in the same week? DETAILS please! I’m curious!

Thanks.

Does owning a home increase car insurance rates?

19 May

A coworker once told me that once you’re labeled as a homeowner, your car insurance rates go up b/c you can be sued for your house. Is there any truth to this? If it matters, I live in NY.

Is it smart to use a home equity loan to pay off car loans, and a line of credit?

04 May

My husband and I need to lower our monthly payments. We have no debt except a line of credit for $60,000 with the payment of $410 and two car loans both adding up to about $25,000 and the combined payment of $1050/mo. So, we are spending about $1400/month for these 3 things. If we got a loan for $110,000 and payed all these off, our payment at 6.6% would be around $700/month. Of course I would always pay more than that per month which would go to principle. Why isn’t this a good thing to do? I realize that getting a new car would add to our payments once again. So, that would not be smart. Other than that, is this a smart thing to do? It seems like it is, but then why don’t more people do this?

Bad Credit is keeping my pregnant wife and I from home ownwership. Are there anyways around this?

19 Apr

My wife and I both have good jobs, and combined we bring in $52,000 a year before taxes. We live in Rocky Mount, NC and currently pay $725 dollars a month for rent. . We feel we are stable enough to purchase our first home. I know you normally need good credit, and a hefty down payment for this to happen. We dont have any money saved for a down payment but could scrape together about $1,000. I have been reading about 100% financing, but what does this really mean? My wife works for a bank and has explained to me that we cannot and will not do an ARM loan. Will going to different lenders ruin my beacon score, like when you look for a car? Would a housing program help us out? Will any banks take a chance on us? Please help! I would like to begin the process of home ownership before our second child comes in January. All advice is welcome. The Facts: 1. Both Husband and wife have credit scores below 520 2. Combined income $52,000/yr. 3. $725 in rent 4. Baby on the way

Question about travelling home from airport without car seat?

14 Apr

Hello All,

We have a 1.5 yr old and we will be travelling to the US from India. My question was that we need to travel from the airport to home without a car seat with the baby strapped to the mother. I know this is unsafe but we don’t have an option till we buy the car seat. Has anyone done this before ? What if you get pulled up by cops, will the excuse that we just landed from an international flight work ?

Please advice.

TIA

Do I need to buy car insurance before driving a used car that I purchase home?

09 Apr

I am thinking about buying a car. I won’t know if I’m buying this used car until I go look at it. How do I drive it home, if I won’t have car insurance at the moment that I buy it?
Is just seems sort of crazy to buy car insurance before I actually own a car.
