I just bought a used car, and financed it through a credit union. Next, I need to get the license plates. I do not have the title, but I do have the “Application for Title.” Does the credit union hold onto the title until I’ve paid off the loan, or do I need to somehow get the title in order to get my plates? I am in Missouri.

I sold my car recently. Noticed there was a lien on the title. I paid for the car in full (cash) when I bought it, and have a receipt. Is the person I sold it to going to have a problem registering the car? Is there a way to find out online free why the title says there is a lien?

I am leaving at the end of the month and still haven’t gotten my copy of the car’s title (which I lost and had to reorder one through the DMV). My car is 13 years old and I have to sell it since I’m leaving the state for good. I am looking at Carmax or other used car places. Any advice? Will they buy it from me if I don’t have my title?

I paid for a used car bought in NJ (no nj /pa sales tax was paid for at the time of sale). The title was put in my grandfathers name because i did not have my license at the time. Can he sell the car to me for a dollar, or transfer the title to my name before registering the vehicle? If so, how? I am hoping to avoid paying double for registration and temporary plates, as well as saving some time. I have no intention of avoiding the tax on the sale price of the vehicle.

My wife bought a used car privately. The seller is a mechanic (owns a tire franchise) and he claims to have purchased the car from a customer. The title was still in the name of the customer he bought it from and the sellers wife forged the previous owners name on the title. After six weeks the engine has thrown a rod and is unuseable. I know my wife shouldn’t have accepted this title but I am wondering if I have any legal recourse. In Florida there is no lemon law on private auto sales but I think this guy may have known the engine was going.

Can I change the name of the title to me even though the car is finance under my friend? Or do I have to take a loan for the car in order to transfer the title? How bout go Beyond and add another person to the title?

My mom was killed and her husband and her were seperated at the time. He signed over all rights to her and the estate when she died to me (being that he didn’t want anything to do with her or her bills). The Toyota Tundra and it was only a year old when she passed. The credit union at her work financed the truck loan. It was in her name only I have the loan docs. The insurance on the loan paid it off and somehow her husbands name is now on the title with her name. He wants the truck now and has claimed he has reported it stolen.
What can I do? I have all her bills some of which I paid off not knowing at the time I shouldn’t have. Can I really get arrested for driving a stolen car? I don’t drive it much but I don’t want my children and I to be in the car and go to jail for a stolen car
My lawyer says I should not put any more stress on my self and just give it to him. “Just for get about it” she says

I am looking to buy a cheap car to commute to work, which is about 45 minutes away from home(new job), and I just need something dependable for about a year because I plan to purchase a new car next year. The question is should I purchase a salvage title car because they are cheaper and I could get a newer model car for cheaper? Just need it for a year, til I’m able to afford better, need something to get me from point A to B.

The man I am selling it to will never be here in person. After I get the payment from him I will send it to my finance company, and they will send me the title. Do I just sign it and have it notarized, then send it to him? How do I go about that?
if it’s a cashiers check shouldn’t it be guarenteed that it will clear? If he tells me to wire anything back to him I will definatley not do it. But just in case this is legit, how do I transfer the title?

This dealer has a car for sale and it quite expensive cause it is a collector. And, he is saying the last owner lost the title and sold it to him. Why did he just not have the guy file for lost title??? Is it possible it is hot or has a lien on it.

I bought the car online and had the dealer deliver it to the boat dock for immediate export. I did not pay sales tax or register the car and have not titled it either. All I have is a certificate of origin. How can I title the car to sell it when I bring it back to the States?
