I know it’s “collector’s edition” but that includes a keychain and a special download of a car as well as pre-ordering. It is 69.95! And I haven’t even seen the regular edition of it being available? Why would they pay that much to buy it 3 months early?

I think the Collectors Edition’s of any game are generally overpriced because they are marketed to those who want the extras such as the full size Pip Boy in the Fallout 3 CE.

You don’t pay extra for the pre-order. The collector’s edition just has the few items more, and costs more than the standard edition. You can get either version as a pre-order.
In general, ‘limited’ or ‘collector’s’ editions and similar gimmicks are just that – gimmicks to squeeze a few extra bucks out of you. A rip off if you want to put it that way. The only people who should bother with them are die-hard fans of the series. (mumblelikememumble)
Nobody else would miss that stuff. A recent game, Fable 2, released a Limited Edition version that was found to NOT have most of the stuff advertised as being part of the more expensive version. Which left a lot of their fans feeling used and scammed.
So unless your reproductive parts would fall off, or your feel your gaming experience (or bragging rights) would not be complete with out the extra items, I don’t think people should bother with them. A lot of Limited/Special versions are just not worth it.

In Spain we don’t even have that version to be pre-ordered… I ordered The Sims 3… about 3 weeks ago it was 59,99€ anyway ! That look’s like a good deal to me ^^ I hope the base-game has weather ! or I’ll be playing the sims 2 still =/
