Would you be eligible for unemployment compensation,if you work for commissions only selling cars?

07 Jun

Sales are off, because of the economy and negative publicity of the car manufacturers, etc. You get a nominal draw pay,but must pay it back if you do sell something.Consequently my income is almost nothing.I live in Pa.The Dealer won’t lay anyone off,its not costing him anything to keep the sales force,he has cut all of the other services in the store.

the best thing you can do is check with your local unemployment office. Each state controls the eligibility. Commission workers usually are not covered, but there maybe exceptions. go put in an application and see what developes

No, you have to be laid off from your job. Just because you are getting paid by commission and still working, does not entitle you to any unemployment. If I were you, I would be looking for another job with a steady pay check that you don’t have to pay back.

You would not be covered for unemployment but you would qualify for low wage earners benefits, anytime you have a week where you earn less than your weekly compensation benefit would be you can receive the difference in pay.!!

It depends on your state. Call the unemployment office.

No, you are not eligible for unemployment compensation because you are a commission sales person.
